The Back 40 Farmhouse~ Pottsboro, Texas

Sleeps up to 6 guests • 2 Bedrooms • 3 Beds • 1 Bath

Escape to a quiet nature retreat rarely found in today’s modern world. The Back 40 Farmhouse, a fully restored Sears kit house built in 1925, is surrounded by the Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge and Lake Texoma near Pottsboro, Texas. You’ll have your choice of bird watching, world class striped bass fishing, hiking, swimming, and trail riding.  If you choose to simply relax back at the farmhouse you’ll find outdoor games, a firepit, and plenty of seating to include a porch swing. The gated yard is secure parking for your vehicle, boat, and trailer.

The cozy two-bedroom, one bath cottage was carefully restored to retain so many original features – including the look of the beaver board and lattice interior walls, double-hung craftsman-style windows (many with original “wavy” glass), glass cabinet and doorknobs, plus metal hinges and hardware. The original front door, found in the backyard shed, was repaired and repainted with historic green. The upper kitchen cabinets, plus bathroom and ironing cabinets were also repaired and replaced for use.
